Winterchildren

As explained in Autumn our fabulous dance teacher of our local music school asked me to take photos of her classes during every season for the big show at the end of the school year. Today we finally had enough snow to go ahead with the winter shoot. Unfortunately not many kids of this group were available but we had a real fun afternoon anyway and managed plenty of photos before the blizzard nearly blew us off the lake!
Thank you so much to Ms. Shabani for putting so much energy and personal time into this project and thanks to the kids for putting up with the cold and storm - You guys were GREAT!!!

Wie bereits im Herbst erklärt, hat mich unsere brillante Tanzlehrerin der Musikschule gebeten, Ihre Schüler/innen zu jeder Jahreszeit zu fotografieren. Diese Bilder werden dann beim Tanzmatineé am Ende dieses Schuljahres eingeblendet werden. Heute hatten wir endlich genug Schnee um unsere Winterfotos zu machen. Leider hatten nicht viele Kinder dieser Gruppe Zeit aber wir hatten dennoch einen Riesenspass im Schnee auf dem See und konnten einiges fotografieren bevor uns ein ziemlich heftiger Schneesturm fast vom See wehte! 

Ein RIESIGES DANKESCHÖN an Frau Shabani für all die Energie, Freude und Freizeit die sie in dieses Projekt steckt und Danke an all die fantastischen Kids für's mitmachen trotz Wind und Wetter - Ihr wart alle großartig!!!

Day29: Hot-Dog

Okay okay okay - this actually happened today.... Sorry but Fridays are so busy I don't usually have time to shoot much! So this dog ran over the frozen lake - and I had like one second to take a photo. So apologies for it not being a very artistic shot but I had to show you - can you believe it is wearing a purple jumper??? Must be the trendiest dog alive I guess... :)

Day 28: Spring feelings...

...at least inside the house. Everywhere outside is covered under a thick blanket of fluffy white snow. And as much as we love sledging and ice skating I am in need for spring now. Fresh greens and rays of sunlight... that's what I dream of nowadays! So it was a lovely surprise to see the buds of my orchid turn into such gorgeous flowers!

Day 27: a new location?

This old hut has been on my mind for a shoot-location for quite a few years now... I have never used it yet but am hoping to do so very soon!!!

Seit ein paar Jahren spukt mir das "Brechlbad" schon als Location im Kopf herum. Bis jetzt hab ich noch nie dort fotografiert - sollte sich aber schnellstens ändern!!! Ich hoffe ich hab bald die Möglichkeit es mal "auszuprobieren" - Interessenten bitte melden ;-)

Day 26: Happy Birthday Sabine!

It's my darling friend Sabine's birthday today. I won't say which one though - you wouldn't believe it anyway. Isn't she absolutely stunning - it has to be said that she isn't wearing the tiniest bit of make up...

Meine liebe Freundin Sabine hat heute Geburtstag. Ich verrat Euch nicht, wie jung sie geworden ist - ihr würdet's mir sowieso nicht glauben!!! Ist sie nicht UNGLAUBLICH schön???

Und das ohne das winzigste Bisschen Make up - macht mich schon ein bisschen neidisch ;-)

Day 25: Europes longest castle

Did you know that I live about 15mins drive away from Europe's longest castle - The castle of Burghausen? Very proud of it and whenever I drive past it amazes me!!!

Wir leben ca 15min Fahrt entfernt von Europa's längster Burg - die Burg von Burghausen!!! Und sind sehr stolz drauf ;-) Ich kann mich eigentlich nie an ihr satt sehen...

Day 23: Dobby's Dream

Während der letzten Tage hab ich's a bisserl mit dem Stricken übertrieben. Aber mit was soll man sich sonst die Krankenstand-zeit vertreiben ;-) Ich glaube zumindest Harry Potter's Dobby würd sich unheimlich über so eine freuen!!!
Hier sind die neuesten Kreationen. Übrigens gibt's eine Mütze oder  Blumenhaarband etc., welche/s wir bei Eurer Fotosession für Babies und Kinder verwenden, im Preis incl. dazu!!!

During the last few days I might have slightly overdone the knitting. But how else would I have spent my time ill and very bored on the couch ;-) I bet at least Harry Potter's Dobby would totally love one of these!!!
By the way: The hat or flower-headband etc. which we use during your photo-session is included in the price and you get to keep it!!!

Day 21: Just the two of us...

The flu has got me in it's grip since 3 days now and I grab every oportunity for a rest. But thursday is the day where J and me meet up in a little Café whilst our boys are at their meditation class and have a quick drink and chat - alone for once - and there is no way I would have missed that! 
PS: I forgot to mention that I had to take these with my mobile phone as I did bring the camera without battery! Dough!

Die Grippe hat mich seit  3 Tagen in ihren Fängen und ich bin um jede Minute Pause froh. Aber Donnerstag ist der Tag an dem J und ich uns in einem kleinen Cafè treffen während unsere Jungs auf Traumreise gehen. Dass wir uns einfach gemütlich alleine unterhalten können kommt nicht sehr oft vor und das hätte ich mir auch heute nicht entgehen lassen!
PS: ich hab vergessen zu erwähnen, dass ich diese Fotos mit meinem Handy machen musste, weil ich meine Kamera ohne Batterie mitgenommen hab! Argh!

Day 19: Happy Feet

Yes, I so feel like I am cheating a bit here (same session as Day18)... But in case you haven't noticed: I adore feet! And those are Ewan's ;-) looking at them certainly makes me happy and that's why this is my photo for today!

Ja, ja, ich finde auch, dass das ein bisschen geschwindelt ist (gleiche Session wie Tag18)... Aber für alle die's noch nicht wissen: Ich liebe Füße! Und das sind die von Ewan ;-) sie anuzsehen macht mich glücklich und darum sind sie mein heutiges Foto!

Day 18: A fish called Ewan

He likes being in the tub - for hours - especially when I sit next to him and read him a book. So because he was off school today I decided to give him a bath in the morning. That made him very happy and me too - because for once I got the chance to take bathroom pictures with natural light :)
Er liebt die Badewanne - stundenlang - am meisten, wenn ich ihm nebenbei ein Buch vorlese! Heute durfte er von der Schule zu Hause bleiben und er war happy, weil er schon am Vormittag baden durfte und ich war/bin happy, weil ich endlich mal Badewannenfotos mit natürlichem Licht machen konnte :)

...a long day

Denis has been invited by Stiftung Talente to get tested for his IQ. This was recommended by the headmistress of his school and obviously we're really proud of him. But even if it turns out he has a standard intelligence he will still be a very special kid to us. Anyway I drove to the end of the world and back again with him today to get it done. So I am very sorry for not coming up with a daily photo today. My job as a mum is more important and so I will treat you with two tomorrow  ;-)
And because a blog post still needs a picture to make one happy here are a few of the ones I edited this morning. Have a lovely evening everyone!x

Denis wurde von Stiftung Talente eingeladen, auszutesten ob er hochbegabt ist. Dies wurde uns von der Direktorin seiner Schule vorgeschlagen und natürlich sind wir unheimlich stolz auf ihn. Aber auch wenn er offiziell ein "Durchschnittskind" ist bleibt er für uns trotzdem ein echt besonderes Kind! Jedenfalls bin ich heute bis zum Ende der Welt und wieder zurück gefahren um diesen Test zu machen und darum gibt es heute kein Daily Photo. Mein Job als Mama ist und bleibt der wichtigere - Ihr bekommt als Entschädigung morgen 2 zu sehen;-)
Aber weil jeder Blogeintrag ein Bild braucht um ihn schön zu machen sind hier ein paar der Portraits die ich heute morgen bearbeitet habe. Einen schönen Abend wünsch ich Euch allen! x

Day 17: Sunday treats

A very lazy, rainy winter sunday... Because every saturday we have been and will be really busy we decided to make today a really lazy family day at home. That involves food a-plenty too! So we had an English breakfast and for the afternoon I decided to bake some yummy scones which we ate whilst playing our favourite "board-game" Carcassonne... The results of which you can see on Jamie's blog!

  Es war ein fauler, verregneter Wintersonntag... Weil wir jeden Samstag (bis jetzt und in der nächsten Zeit) mit allen möglichen Arbeiten verplant haben, haben wir uns heute einen richtig faulen Familien Tag zu Hause gegönnt. Dazu gehört auch viel lecker Essen! Also hatten wir erstmal ein spätes, Englisches Frühstück und am Nachmittag gabs dann verboten gute Scones. Diese wurden beim Spielen unseres Lieblings "BrettSpieles" Carcassonne verspeist... Das Ergebnis davon könnt ihr auf Jamie's blog betrachten!

Day 16: music in my ears

Practice makes perfect... well it would. Denis loves to play the piano or better said: he loves the idea of playing really cool songs really well. But lazyness overcomes him when it comes to practicing - because he has to learn boring songs before he can do the cool stuff... I totally and utterly admire his lovely teacher for being so patient and good humoured with him!!!

Jamie had a fun day 16!

Übung macht den Meister... Denis spielt sehr gerne Klavier oder besser er möchte gerne richtig coole Songs richtig gut spielen können.Wenn es aber zum täglichen Üben kommt wird die ganze Sache schnell zur Qual (für mich und ihn) denn es hilft nix. Erst wenn er die langweiligen Lieder spielen kann, wird er die coolen lernen können... 

Ich bewundere die Geduld und Ausdauer seiner wirklich unglaublich netten Lehrerin!!!

Day14: these shoes were made for walking

Two of my favourite things combined: knit leg warmers and my best high heels. I must admit that I do not go often go with fashion. Particularly when it comes to the heels of shoes and boots I get very peckish - I like them chunky ;-) So here goes: my picture of the day...
PS: I am afraid my knees have been battered with roller skating and tree climbing and bmx biking during my childhood and to cover that up would have felt a bit like cheating - Sorry! ;-)

Zwei Lieblingsbesitztümer in einem: gestrickte Stulpen und meine  "schönen Schuhe". Ich muss zugeben, dass ich nicht sehr oft mit der Mode gehe. Besonders wenn es um Schuhe und Stiefel geht werde ich sehr wählerisch - ich mag sie "chunky" (also sicher nicht vorne spitz und mit Pfennigabsatz!!!) Hier also mein Tagesfoto für heute...

PS: meine Knie wurden in meiner Kindheit mit Rollschuhlaufen, Baumklettern und BMX fahren ziemlich schwer mitgenommen und das zu retouchieren hätte sich wie Schwindelei angefühlt - Sorry ;-)

Day 14: inside you can be anything...

I was surprised with a little envelope today... Aside from lovely vintage photography-stickers and gift tags it also contained these two little lovelies. Handmade vintage charms. One with darling Pippi Longstocking and the list of all her names on the back and the one saying "inside you can be anything" has a photo of a gorgeous vintage (again) lady on it. This was such a precious gift sent by Mina from House 21 and it really made my day!

Thank you sooooo much Mina! I hope you know how much this means to me! xxx

Heute wurde ich mit einem kleinen Umschlag überrascht... Neben süßen vintage-photo-Stickers und Geschenk-Anhängern waren diese zwei Hübschen drin. Handgefertigte Vintage-Anhänger. Einer davon mit der geliebten Pippi und all ihren Namen auf der Rückseite und der andere mit der Aufschrift "inside you can be anything" hat ein Foto einer wunderhübschen unbekannten Dame auf der anderen Seite. Ein sehr besonderes Geschenk das mir von Mina aus dem House 21 zugeschickt wurde und meinen Tag sehr versüßt hat! Vielen Herzlichen Dank liebe Mina! Ich hoffe Du weisst wieviel mir das bedeutet!!! xxx

Day 13: Hot (tea) when you're cold...

We drink an AWFUL lot of tea. All of us. English for Jamie and me, fruit and herb ones for the boys. Always - no matter what season. But especially in winter I believe there's nothing that warms you up better than a cup of hot tea with honey... Apart from maybe hot chocolate with rum - mmmmhhhh. But that's a different story!
Denis asked me to knit him these mittens because he has a theory about fingerless mittens being the best thing for making perfect snowballs with... Aparently you have enough grip in your fingers to make them hard and round but the insides of your hands also stay warm.... I guess I better stay indoors when he wears them ;-)

 

Wir trinken UNMENGEN an Tee. Die ganze Familie. Englischen Schwarztee für Jamie und mich, Früchte und Kräutertees für die Jungs. Immer - egal welche Saison grade herrscht. Aber besonders im Winter gibt es sicherlich nichts was einen besser aufwärmt als eine heisse Tasse Tee mit Honig... Ausser vielleicht heisse Schokolade mit Rum - mmmmhhhh. Aber dazu ein anderes mal.
Denis hat mich gebeten diese fingerlosen Handschuhe für ihn zu stricken weil er diese Theorie hat, dass man mit solchen die besten Schneebälle formen kann... Weil, laut ihm, man mit blossen Fingern besser und fester formen kann aber trotzdem bleiben die Handflächen warm... Also ich denke, ich werde ab jetzt drinnen bleiben, wenn er seine Handschuhe anzieht ;-)

Day 12 - Winter bloom

This rose outside our front door really tried to fight winter and started to bud at the start of December but it lost for now and wilted... I love the way nature is so much stronger than we'll ever know! Make sure to stop by Jamie's blog and see what fun he came up with today ;-)

Diese Rose vor unserem Haus wollte dem Winter trotzen und hat Anfang Dezember noch angefangen zu blühen. Den Kampf hat sie verloren und ist jetzt doch erfroren... Die Natur ist trotzem so viel stärker als wir je wissen werden! Nicht vergessen und bei Jamie's blog vorbeischauen - er hat bestimmt wieder was lustiges auf Lager ;-)

Yippiee - ich hab gestern eine Kleinigkeit gewonnen: Diese wunderschöne PSD-Vorlage für Karten aller Art durfte ich mir bei Sher my design aussuchen :-))) Und hab mal schnell ein bisschen damit "gespielt". 

I won this gorgeous Card-Design in a competition on SherMyDesign the other day! I can't wait to experiment a bit more with it but now I really have to get other things done!!! Thank you so much Sher - you are incredibly gifted!!!

Day 11: Steaming Smooch

Now since day 1 I wanted to take a photo of the neighbours horses on the snowy field because that's my view from the kitchen window. And since day 1 they have NEVER been out on that field. Lazy buggers! So today I walked down to the paddocks and tried to get a good shot. That's all I can come up with today! 

But I am not giving up on that other picture which is always on my mind - watch this space!

Seit Tag1 wollte ich die Nachbarspferde auf Ihrer Schneekoppel fotografieren, weil das der sehr erquickende Ausblick aus meinem Küchenfenster ist. Und seit Tag 1 haben sie sich dort oben nicht mehr blicken lassen. Faulpelze! Heute hab ich mich also aufgemacht und bin zu Ihrem Stall gewandert um wenigstens irgendein gutes Foto zu bekommen. Und das war's für heute ;-)

Day 10: old treasures

Diese Kamera war eines der ersten Geschenke von Jamie. Er kaufte sie vor fast 10 Jahren in Prag und brachte sie für mich mit nach Irland... Verrückt wie schnell die Zeit vergeht!!! Sie ist noch immer funktionstüchtig und sobald meine Dunkelkammer fertig ist werde ich wieder anfangen mit ihr zu arbeiten! :)

This camera was one of the first gifts of Jamie. He bought it nearly 10 years ago in Prague and brought it back to Ireland for me... Crazy how fast time goes by!!! It still works by the way, and as soon as I have my darkroom set up I will start working with it again!:)

Day 9: don't play with fire!!!

Meine Kids wissen es ganz genau, dass das Spielen mit Feuer ABSOLUT verboten ist! Aber weil sie trotzdem lernen müssen damit umzugehen und weil auch eine gewisse Neugier vorhanden ist, dürfen sie unter unserer Aufsicht natürlich Experiementieren. Ewan ist der einzige, der sich diese Mutprobe traut:
